The magazine Branic (Defender) was initiated by the Association of Legal Attorneys on 1 January 1887. The first editors in chief were attorneys of Belgrade Milan St. Markovic and Djordje Nenadovic. The magazine has been published ever since with certian interruptions caused by wars and lack of the financial means. After cessation of the Association of Legal Attorneys in 1929 the magazine was published by the Bar Association of Serbia. The authors of articles and permanent associates were the famous legal theoreticians and lawyers in the country and abroad. WE shall mention only the late ones: Slobodan Jovanovic, Ph. D., Toma Zivanovic, Ph. D., Lazar Markovic, Ph. D., Zivojin Peric, Ph. D., Ceda Markovic, Ph. D., Djordje Tasic, Ph. D., Fredo Culinovic, Ph. D., Avram Lazarevic, Ph. D., Borislav Blagojevic, Ph. D., as well as attorneys at law Dobrivoje - Dobra Petkovic, Obrad Blagojevic, Milan Zivadinovic, Ivan Ribar, Ph. D., Vidan Blagojevic, Vlada Simic and many others. After the II World War the magazine was called "Advokatura".
